It sounds like Ql could be the interface or transition between the physical and nonphysical or mind and body. Decartes could not resolve this conflict but it seem to me that is what psychology is about in modern western medicine which maybe in part came out of this conflict. I know I am still a very naive student of eastern medicine but it seems that managing Ql clinically is somewhat like using psychology to manage the myrid somatic disorders with non specific symptoms like IBS, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and many other pain syndromes that can be considered somatoform.

You are right. Chinese medicine deals with these diseases in this country. In China now, they deal mainly with neurological disorders and musculoskeletal pain. Helping people whose balance of yin and yang is off is what we do on a daily basis.
