Preparign For Tests
Posted on January 2, 2009
The study group category is for questions or comments when preparing for tests. Use this site as you would a study group. Questions on objectives, case studies and class content are appropriate for this category.
I will also post test related announcements. Although I will answer questions from time to time, the purpose of this category is for peer interaction during test preparation.
Both the midterm and final will be multiple choice or short answer questions. There will be a set of essay questions with the tests that will appear on this site the week before each exam. For the essays you will need to do research as well as using class notes and textbooks (document & footnote).

Where might I find a chart of the circadian flow? Also, when discussing the cycle of tides, does that pertain to the hours of the day that correspond to certain elements/phases?

The Circadian Flow and the cycle of tides chart are on the Channel/Meridian powerpoint presentation. the cyhcle of tides refers to the flow of Qi throughout the body in a 24 hour period. For example, The Qi flows the strongest in the Large Intestine Channel between 5 am and 7 am. If someone is having difficulties having regular BM's you can suggest that they try to get on a schedule between 5 and 7 am. This way you have the fullest available energy working for you. The opposite time is 5 pm and 7 pm. this is when the Large Intestine channel is the weakest so it would be the most difficult to have a BM then for people who have difficulties. The same applies to eating early in the morning vs eating late at night. The energetics for digestion are just not optimal in the evening so a lot of 'dampness' (weight gain) can happen if people eat late at night.
